Michele O'Neil worked as an Information Systems Analyst at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, while earning her teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University in Business Education. She taught business, computer applications and career preparation at the middle and high school level for eleven years. While the negative economy resulted in a layoff from a career that she loved, it also provided an unexpected opportunity to expand her passion for career and technical education at the community college level. O’Neil joined Washtenaw Community College in July 2005 teaching Business Office Systems and assisting occupational programs with selecting and implementing technical skill assessments. In her current role as FlexEd Program Manager, O’Neil assists with the delivery the College’s Construction Supervision Program, which is an opportunity for articulated building trades union members to earn college credit for their apprenticeship to finish their associate degree online.
